EASTCHESTER (WPIX) -
After leading the New York Yankees to their 27th world championship Wednesday, manager Joe Girardi managed to fit in an act of kindness on his way home from the big game.
According to Westchester County Police, Girardi assisted a motorist who crashed into a wall after losing control of her vehicle on the Cross County Parkway early Thursday morning.
The Yankees skipper was traveling eastbound on the Cross County near the New Rochelle Road exit when he spotted the distressed driver and pulled over, police said.
"The guy wins the World Series, what does he do? He stops to help," Westchester County police officer Kathleen Cristiano told The Journal News. Cristiano was one of the first officers who responded to the accident.
The victim, Marie Henry, 27, of Stratford, Connecticut managed to walk away from the crash. She reportedly declined to be taken to the hospital.
