Tyler Hudson
KENE HOLLIDAY as Tyler Hudson

Kene Holliday, as Ben Matlock's private investigator , Tyler Hudson prefers to delve into the stock market, where he has built a solid reputation, but Matlock continually persuades Hudson that his real talent lies in private investigating – for Matlock's clients.

A former track champion and All-American football player, Holliday turned his attention to theater at the University of Maryland, where he earned a degree in speech and drama. He was the first African-American to have a leading role on the school's main stage and was named Best Actor at the University.

"I'm a chameleon who's played everything from a gangster to a minister," says Holliday, who made his professional debut in 1970 with the Folger Theater Group in "Dionysus Wants You" at the Astor Place Showcase Theater, sponsored by Joe Papp. From 1972 to 1976 he worked under the tutelage of Moto Jicho in Robert Hook's Washington, D.C. Black Repertory Company. In 1975 he was a stage manager for the Smithsonian's cross-country tour of 33 dancers and musicians from Ghana.

Appearing in Joe Papp's New York production of "Streamers," Holliday was spotted by producer Bud Yorkin who sent him to L.A. for a TV audition. In Hollywood he won regular roles in "Carter Country" and "Chicago Story," and a recurring part in "Soap." He appeared in the mini-series "Roots: The Second Generation," and starred in the TV movie "Momma The Detective." He has also appeared in the NBC movie "If It's Tuesday, It Must Be Belgium."

In his off-hours, Holliday enjoys gourmet cooking, magic and writing.
