No game during the bye week means no "" and no comment board from which to derive an issue. But because our readers have finished their soup and salad, here's a bye-week issue to serve as a palate cleanser before the meal that is (at least) 10 more weeks of Bears football.

So here's a question of my own: Does an NFL player lie around on his couch watching football during the bye week or is that just too much football for a guy who plays it all week?

Cornerback Charles Tillman: I didn't watch any. ... It was family time, all family.

Safety Danieal Manning: I went home and watched my college team [Abilene Christian]. I watched the Cowboys [on Monday Night Football] of course. I actually turned it off when the Cowboys started to go down. I'm a Cowboys fan, except when we play them. I left [my playbook] here, they told us to get away, get football off our minds.

Center Olin Kreutz: No. I spent time with my family. I'm from Hawaii, so there's nowhere I can go [on vacation].

Defensive tackle Ian Scott: I watched a little bit. ... I had some friends that ran the marathon. I didn't go down [to watch it], I went to church and met up with them afterward. ... I watched Minnesota-Seattle, [Matt] Hasselbeck got hurt, that was a surprise, that was the only thing that stood out.

Wide receiver Rashied Davis: I watched a lot of football. [But] ask me anything about what happened in any of the games, I couldn't tell you. My brother called me and asked me the same question, "Do you watch football on your weeks off?" ... I didn't watch when I was in college and we were on our bye week. I didn't watch when I was in Arena League, either. ... My wife watches more than I do, which is weird, because she hated football. Now she's asking me, "Did you hear about this guy? Did you hear about ?" ... If she starts breaking down [the Cover-2 defense] then I know she's watching too much football.

Linebacker Brendon Ayanbadejo: I didn't watch a single game. I watched Monday Night Football, that's it. I was too busy at the pool, hanging at the mall with my family. I was in Miami, then California.

Tight end Desmond Clark: None whatsoever. It was family time. I was working, man, moving into a new home. ... Usually, I'll check it out, [but] I was just too busy. I'm a fan of the NFL as well as a player.
